Mandarin Scholars
Is your child already proficient in speaking Mandarin and looking to expand on their vocabulary, reading, and writing skills?
Panda Mandarin is offering our Mandarin Scholars classes for students who already have exposure to the language at home, from school, or from living abroad who want to continue their fluency in Mandarin.
We use the Mǎ Lì Píng (马立平中文) curriculum, which is designed for advanced students in North American schools (a textbook fee will apply at time of registration).
Who should enrol?
Mandarin Scholars is geared towards students who are at least of an intermediate level (an assessment interview is required to enrol) with Mandarin. Students should generally be able to speak at an advanced level and comfortable carrying on an age-appropriate conversation with fluent/native speakers. Students are also expected to do their homework to practice learning outside of the classroom.

About the class
The Mandarin Scholars class will bring a strong academic focus in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Registration is by school term (Fall, Winter, Spring), meeting once a week for 60 minutes. There will be homework and review throughout the year using the MLP online platform.
Sessions are run in-person or hybrid/virtual and are based on skill. Our experienced teachers will augment the MLP curriculum with Panda Mandarin's flavour of fun and interactive activities to ensure your child is excited to come to class!
About the 马立平 Series
While each student is different, each level of Mandarin Scholars will take approximately one school year to complete (ie, Fall --> Winter --> Spring), following one MLP book from beginning to end. The table below shows approximately the amount of vocabulary a student will know at the end of each level, cumulatively.
